Going on day trips are one of my favorite activities. When we got a 70 degree day in December and it was on my day off from my part-time job, I took full advantage of the gorgeous weather. My father and I decided to head north on our trip ending up in Central Jersey, across the the river from New Hope, PA. You can't tell from my photo, but we had blue skies and light cloud cover all day. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. We stopped in every small town along the way. I love how these little towns preserve all the buildings. They restore them and find new purpose for them such as this old train station(pictured above), which was made into a restaurant.
A few weeks ago I had to chance to photograph a family in their home. I don't usually go to a clients home, but it's winter and I have a small studio so I made the choice to travel to their home. This ended up working out for the best. The wall I photographed the family against was solid brick with a small fireplace. Working with a larger family is new to me. Posing has been one of my issues in the past and this session was a good challenge. Achieving a triangle shape with the clients heads is always the goal when posing groups of people, but sometimes it doesn't always work out that way like in the photo below. Regardless of the non-complete triangle I am happy with how this image turned out. The family chose this one to be made into a large canvas portrait.
Last week I had a lovely little model come to the studio. Cassidy was just a tiny 7 day old and she finally fell asleep for me to get this shot. Wish this had been a full newborn session and I would have had some more time to work with her.
This was one of my favorite shots from the shoot. I am very glad was able to work on posing with my new bean bag poser and use this cute little romper you see below. One of the subjects I love to photograph is the old and forgotten buildings of New Jersey. You see more and more abandon buildings, factories, and homes being demolished each day. I feel the need to document these historic sites to preserve them knowing they may not be standing in a few years. On this adventure I explored the dark forest that was the forgotten town of Atsion, New Jersey. I found an old school house, covered with graffiti and lost to time.
