This winter was a bit crazy. Warm one day and cold the next. The temperature jumped from 70 degrees one day and to cold enough to snow the next morning. Waking up to snow is nice sometimes. Heading into the woods, we found a make shift foot bridge. Dad taking a picture of me taking a picture of him. Tea berries out all over the forest floor.
------- And someone drove right into the bank of this stream. I don't like when people mess with the natural order of the forest. If you travel to this small town by the river make sure you bring bug spray when visiting in the summer. Yes, while visiting the sweet little town of Greenwich we were warned about the Green Head fly's. Although, we didn't experience them for ourselves visiting at the end of the spring season, I'm going to take the locals word for it. At the end of a dead end road you will find this sweet landscape. Lavender in full bloom and a dirt road leading to possibly nowhere or everywhere beyond a thick set of trees. Across the street from the farm you will see this out beauty. Most likely owned by the farmer, but abandoned to fall into disrepair. Overgrown, yet still really beautiful.
FINALLY!!! Dogs... yes, due to lack of volunteers and just bad timing I have not photographed any dogs for the animal shelter since last August. Until Now. Twenty-five awesome dogs and it took 2.5 hours. That's not counting the time to edit, but who counts that. lol I had two volunteers handling the the dogs for me making it a lot quicker then I would have been with only one. The best thing is that least five dogs already had applications in that weekend and I was able to proudly place "Adopted" on their photos.
Also, NEW LOGO! Thanks Hearts Speak. https://www.heartsspeak.org/ Last year went by to quick and this year seems to be going even quicker. If feels like it was just Christmas a few weeks ago. So, I am completely three months late on writing any blogs for this year.
Here is a recap of last year... hmm. The quality of my work is better and I would like to think more consist. I photographed a big ZERO for maternity, but I also didn't do any model calls this time around. Thinking about doing one or two in 2017. I also did photograph only 3 newborns, but all were between the months of January and April. My Valentine Mini's went well as did my Mommy and Me sessions. Could have been better, but a few bookings are better then none. Tried my hand a Groupon... ha won't do that again. (you must discount your product at least 30% to list your services. Then, Groupon takes 50% of what you make from the sale) Anyway, the Groupon offer got me two doggie clients. Summer ended up being a bummer and the fall was filled with many inquiries, but few bookings. Did a few model calls to expand my children's portrait portfolio. This was great. Got the images I needed. Photographed/attended my favorite clients wedding in October. Very happy with the outcome. Participated in a fall festival with a booth. Sold older newborn hats from when I first started to crochet. Also, sold a cat tree I made for the occasion. Two were built; one sold. Displayed my samples and was able to get names, phone numbers, and e-mails for my mailing list. Tried to sell my fine art prints (landscapes and smoke photography). Didn't sell any. Need to work on presentation more and variety of fine art prints for future vending. Well that about sums it up... On Yeah... my cats as always were my favorite models. |
