Found this old mill when getting lost one day. Around the back of the building and down a long slopping driveway you can see the date of the building and a falling apart old porch. Part of the building is boarded off, but I got inside and was able to see the basement of the mill. It appears to have very bad fire damage and the stairs to the first floor are no longer accessible. It was spooky but I couldn't resist snapping a few inside shots before getting my butt out of there. Friendly sources tell me that this building is was originally a grist mill called "Ireland Mill" built in 1799, but it burnt down and was reconstructed with what looks like some of the materials that remained after the fire. The new mill that stands today was built around 1850. Although this mill too suffered the wrath of flames. Before this mill closed its doors it is believed that they used to produce staves for barrels. House Cleaning Anyone? As always I had to document my dad taking his own photos of the old mill. Anyone who want to see this place for themselves the location can be found in one the sign in the background of this picture. Please be careful and courteous when exploring this area. There has been fire damage and it is dangerous to venture inside... also probably not legal. lol
