Preparing for Your Session
Preparing for your session
We will talk either by e-mail or by phone to discuss when and where you would like to have your session. I will ask for the names and ages of any children who will be included in the session. I will also ask you to name any specific shot you want me to capture... aka... head shots of all children and/or you, full family photo, if you like shots where backs are facing the camera, etc. I prefer to travel within 8 miles of my home, but will go further for a small travel fee. Below you will find some ideas for locations. If you can't pick a spot I will choose one for you.
What to wear
Bright colors are always nice. Denim on the bottom with bright colors on top looks really good. Striped or checkered tops also work well with jeans. Families look complete when they match; either same color shirts or what not. What ever you choose should be something you feel comfortable in. I don't want you to be too hot, itchy, or adjusting your clothing every five seconds. I am open to wardrobe changes if you want to switch things up a bit too. I also encourage families to bring something to keep the kids occupied while they are not being photographed like a ball or book. If your child likes a doll or has something special that represents them that they might like to have it included in your pictures. These favorite things define you, and picture day is all about capturing your family.
What to expect on picture day
Session usually last anywhere between 45 minutes and an hour and a half all depends on number of subjects and of course lighting. When I get the the location I will look around and see where the light is best. I will ask your opinion on different spots. I want to capture things naturally: natural posing, natural smiles, kids being kids, and all with the help of natural light. I want the session to be fun. If the children don't like to sit still and hold a pose ... aka... most two year olds, then they don't have to. I will try to get the children to act like I am not there. I will try to give little direction while they explore, run, and play. Sometimes I will just watch and wait for the perfect moment. I want these images be real and to express who you and/or your children really are.
When can I see them?
After your session I go home an upload your images. I will hand process each one. I usually remove doubles and shots that are obviously duds ... aka... eyes closed, hand or arm blur, ect. Within a week I will have a slide show of the images as proofs for you to view and to select from. You will pick one, two, or three of your favorites depending on what you would like to purchase. I will rework those images to allow you see them in b/w, sepia, or other special effects I offer. I will then re post those images in a sideshow. Any of those images can be ordered in your print package.

Your Home/My Home/Family or Friend’s Home
Want a natural home-y feel to your photos? Have a room in your house that gets a lot of natural light such as a bay window? Is your house smoke free? Is your house within 8 miles of Lindenwold, NJ? I will be happy to come to you or a friend's house to do your session. Back yards are also great if you have a tree, bench, or flower garden.
I am always up for trying new locations and searching out
for different ideas.
